Living on the Edge

  1. Kia Ora Liam,

My name is Rachel and I am working on the Summer Learning Journey blogging programme this year. It is great to see that you are participating with us this summer. Welcome to the team!

I can see from this activity that you have written your letter to Fraser. It sounds like you are having a great time on your imaginary trip to the tundra. I think that it would be pretty incredible to actually go there in real life. My dad is an outdoor education teacher and he has actually been to the tundra. He loves visiting cold, dramatic landscapes and has spent quite a bit of time in the northern part of Canada. I am actually from Canada so it isn't too far for him to travel to get from Ottawa (where my family lives) to the northern regions of the country. You do have to take a number of planes, however, to fly there and it is pretty barren (empty) when you get there! Apparently, it is also really cold.

Would you like to visit the tundra one day? I am not sure that I could handle the freezing cold temperatures!

Fortunately, we don't have to deal with those temperatures here in New Zealand. Instead, we can spend our summer enjoying the sunshine and the warmth! Have you had the chance to spend much time outside this holiday? I went to the beach yesterday and had a nice swim in the middle of the afternoon. It was beautiful up here in Auckland!

Hope that you are having a great day down south!

Blog with you in the new year,

    Rachel :)
