The seven maidens of Kiowa

The seven maidens of Kiowa

This is what happened.
They climbed onto a magical rock then begged the sky to save them from the bear. The rock pushed them to the sky to be protected by the Great Spirit.

The Seven Maidens are the Kiowa version of the Pleiades.
Their names are Maia, Alcyone, Asterope, Celaeno, Taygete, Electra, and Merope.
The pattern of stars seen in the sky are usually called constellations, but the Seven Maidens are a cluster.
Here are some facts
Kiowa is a native American tribe and the people who made the myth of The Seven Maidens.
They live in the great plains of America.
The Kiowa tribe is known for making things of leather, such as boots and clothing.
The men in the tribe went far to trade many of their makings with other tribes.
They lived a typical Plains Indian lifestyle.
They lived in teepees and depended on their horses for hunting and military uses.
